EPIX ORIGINAL SERIES ‘GET SHORTY’ FROM MGM TELEVISION TO PREMIERE SUNDAY, AUGUST 13 @ 10:00PM

EPIX ORIGINAL SERIES GET SHORTY FROM MGM TELEVISION TO PREMIERE SUNDAY, AUGUST 13 @ 10:00PM

First Look Photos Revealed

NEW YORK – May 16, 2017 – Premium cable network EPIX® has set the premiere date for its original series Get Shorty. The 10-episode dark comedy from MGM Television, based in part on the 1990 best-selling novel of the same name by  Elmore Leonard, will debut on EPIX Sunday, August 13 at 10:00PM ET/PT, 9:00PM CT.

First look images are available here: https://spaces.hightail.com/receive/dblXZ8j8rp

The cast, led by Screen Actors Guild Award® and BAFTA TV Award nominee Chris O’Dowd (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” Sapphires,  Bridesmaids) and multiple Emmy® winner Ray Romano (“Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Men of a Certain Age,” “Parenthood”), includes Sean Bridgers (“Rectify,” Room); Lidia Porto (Horrible Bosses 2); Megan Stevenson (“Review”); Goya Robles (11:55); Lucy Walters (“Power”) and Carolyn Dodd (The Adventures of Catty Wompus).

O’Dowd plays Miles Daly, a hitman from Nevada who tries to become a movie producer in Hollywood as a means to leave his criminal past behind and win back his recently-estranged family.  There, he meets Rick Moreweather (Romano), a washed up producer of low quality films who is desperately hanging on to the rungs of Hollywood relevancy and begrudgingly becomes Miles’ partner and guide through the maze of show business.  Along with his criminal associate Louis (Bridgers), Miles attempts to keep his worlds from colliding as he balances the demands of filmmaking while keeping the suspicions of the crime ring’s chief – and production bankroll – Amara (Porto) and her dangerous nephew, Yago (Robles) at bay.  Also involved in the production is ambitious studio executive April Adams (Stevenson), who started in the business as Rick’s assistant, as well as Miles’ beloved daughter Emma (Dodd) – despite objections from Miles’ estranged wife, Katie (Walters).

Created for television by Davey Holmes (“Shameless,” “In Treatment,” “Damages”), Get Shorty is executive produced by Holmes and Emmy nominee Allen Coulter (The Sopranos,” “Damages”) who also directs the first episode. Adam Arkin (“The Americans,” “Billions”) directed three episodes of the series and is also a co-executive producer. The series is produced by MGM Television and internationally distributed by MGM.

Get Shorty is the third original series premiere for EPIX, joining its timely, critically-acclaimed drama Berlin Station and comedy Graves (which garnered a Golden Globe nomination for star Nick Nolte).  Both series are slated to return for second seasons in 2017.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (“MGM”) announced last week that it closed a deal to acquire full ownership of EPIX, having reached an agreement to acquire the interests held by joint venture partners Viacom, Paramount and Lionsgate.

EPIX COMEDY ‘GRAVES’ ELECTS NEW CAST MEMBER ADAM GOLDBERG AND SPENCER GRAMMER FOR SEASON TWO

EPIX COMEDY GRAVES ELECTS NEW CAST MEMBERS

ADAM GOLDBERG AND SPENCER GRAMMER FOR SEASON TWO

10-Episode Series from Lionsgate Stars Golden Globe® Nominee Nick Nolte, Sela Ward, Skylar Astin, Heléne Yorke and Callie Hernandez

Season Two Commences Production May 15 in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM

New York, NY – May 15, 2017 – Premium network EPIX®, an MGM company, today announced the addition of Adam Goldberg (“Fargo,” “The Jim Gaffigan Show”) and Spencer Grammer (“Greek,” “Mr. Robinson,” “Ironside”) to the second season cast of acclaimed comedy GRAVES. The series from Lionsgate – for which star Nick Nolte garnered a Golden Globe® nomination for his role as ex-President Richard Graves – has commenced production in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM with an eye towards a return on EPIX later this year.

After a year of public protests against his Presidential legacy, Season 2 finds former President Richard Graves turning inward in search of the man he used to be before he was President. This journey is compounded by the arrival of his first grandchild, thanks to daughter Olivia (Heléne Yorke) and a new revelation about his son, Jeremy (Chris Lowell). Graves’s journey coincides with wife Margaret’s (Sela Ward) Senate campaign, as the former First Lady attempts to build her own political legacy at the exact moment that her husband is tearing his down; and his assistant, Isaiah Miller’s (Skylar Astin) search for new direction after taking a bullet for the President in the Season 1 finale.  In addition, Callie Hernandez returns as Samantha.

In a recurring role, Goldberg will portray ‘Christopher Sachs,’ who is Margaret Graves’ new campaign manager: a fastidious, idiosyncratic, often ruthless political mastermind who leads Margaret down a populist path.  He doesn’t care about right or left, or right and wrong; he only plays to win.

Grammer will recur as ‘Katie Farrell,’ Margaret’s new campaign communications director, a blonde conservative princess cut from the cloth of Ann Coulter and Kellyanne Conway. As Isaiah’s Republican Dream Girl turned girlfriend, Katie takes Isaiah under her wing and makes big plans for his political career.

Produced by Lionsgate in association with Kingsgate Films, Josh Michael Stern (“Swing Vote,” “Jobs”) is the creator/showrunner, Academy Award® winner Greg Shapiro (“The Hurt Locker,” “Zero Dark Thirty”) and Rebecca Kirshner (“90210,” “Gilmore Girls”) are executive producers, Abby Gewanter (“Pushing Daisies”) is supervising producer, and Emmy® Award-winning Bill Hill (“Veep,” “Eastbound & Down”) and Jack Moore (“Dear White People,” “Crowded”) are producers.

EPIX TO LAUNCH “EPIX CAST” AN INDUSTRY FIRST EXPERIENCE CONNECTING ITS MOBILE APP TO MILLIONS OF CONNECTED TV PLATFORMS

Simplifies the TV Everywhere Experience by Making Content Available to Any Connected TV Device with a Single Tap

New York, NY — (May 04, 2017) – Premium entertainment network EPIX today announced that it has launched EPIX Cast, a new feature that allows users to cast EPIX content from their Apple and Android devices to any connected TV device without the need for additional hardware. A pioneer in cross-platform viewing, EPIX is again advancing the “TV Everywhere” experience by making it easier for all audiences to enjoy its content on connected TV devices with the touch of a finger on their smart phones. EPIX Cast launches this week with Smart TV models from LG, Sony, Vizio and others, as well as Google Chromecast and Sony connected Blu-ray Players. Other devices including Samsung Smart TVs, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, TiVo and Xbox will be enabled in the coming weeks.

“From the very beginning of the creation of EPIX, our network has been focused on reaching consumers wherever they are, whenever they want and with an experience that is unrivaled in the market today,” said Mark Greenberg, EPIX CEO. “With this new feature, we’re once again leading the charge on advancing the consumer viewing experience”.

Added Jon Dakss, Chief Digital Officer, EPIX, “When you consider that 75% of all broadband-enabled households now have a Connected TV device, the opportunity is enormous. We’re excited to add this to our long list of industry firsts, helping advance the TV Everywhere experience, and simplifying the streaming experience for our subscribers”.

To launch the feature, EPIX has partnered with start-up Vizbee, the pioneer of ‘Vizbee Device Network’ -a mobile-centric network of all video devices in a household, to enable the EPIX app to seamlessly connect to any Connected TV device and cast content effortlessly from any authenticated mobile device to the TV.

New Features

EPIX Cast has expanded the TV Everywhere experience to reach all owners of Smart TVs and Connected TV devices including Blu-ray disc players across the country. The new features include:

Vizbee-powered “Tap to TV” casting to various connected TVs from the phone
Viewing can be started on one TV and switched to a different TV in the home if the viewer decides to change rooms
IOS or Android devices can be used normally once program begins playing on the TV and will continue playing even if the device turns off
The movie library and extensive content choices available on EPIX apps will be available through EPIX Cast – enhancing choice for viewers

EPIX has also enhanced the app with personalized promotion and communication features. EPIX Cast learns when users are most receptive to programming promotions — such as when the user is typically home watching TV — and can alert the user to EPIX movie and original programming premieres for them to cast to a connected TV device.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (“MGM”) announced earlier this month that it will acquire full ownership of EPIX, having reached an agreement to acquire the interests held by joint venture partners Viacom, Paramount and Lionsgate. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is anticipated to close this month.

EPIX TO PREMIERE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY ‘STRAIGHT/CURVE’

EPIX TO PREMIERE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY STRAIGHT/CURVE

Filmmakers Tackle Health Crisis Caused by Negative Body Image

New York, NY – April 24, 2017 – Premium television network EPIX® today announced the premiere of the original documentary film Straight/Curve, an incisive and poignant exploration of society’s unrealistic beauty standards and their damaging effects on the industry’s target audience: women and girls. The documentary will debut on EPIX on Wednesday, June 21 at 8:00PM ET/PT, 7:00PM CT.

Straight/Curve takes a bold offense against today’s pervasive, ceaseless reinforcement of unhealthy messaging around body image, and provides a voice – and a vision – for those affected by the social crisis perpetuated by our culture’s unattainable and unnatural standards of beauty,” said Mark Greenberg, President and CEO, EPIX. “With sharp perspectives from both industry veterans and young, impressionable consumers alike, Straight/Curve is exactly the kind of culturally-relevant filmmaking our viewers have come to find on EPIX.”

Ninety percent of young women and girls say they do not feel represented in the fashion industry or in media, and that the imagery they consume on a daily basis makes them feel “disgusting” and “less than.” Straight/Curve examines the industries and obstacles responsible for this body image crisis and showcases the dynamic leaders fighting for more diversity of size, race and age.   At a time when the human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than words, Straight/Curve sets out to change the imagery we are seeing and to bolster a movement that is redefining our culture’s unrealistic and dangerous standards of beauty to impact society at large.

The film is directed by Jenny McQuaile and produced by Jess Lewis, Jenny McQuaile and Yael Melamede through STRAIGHT/CURVE and SALTY Features. It is executive produced by Jocelyn Diaz, Ross Bernard and Jill Burkhart; Valerie Bishop Pearson serves as producer.

Also upcoming on EPIX is the previously-announced comedy special, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally – Summer of 69: No Apostrophe, which will debut on Friday, May 19 at 10:00PM ET/PT, 9:00PM CT.  In addition to its original documentaries and specials, EPIX will continue its rollout of original scripted series this year, with the debut of the 10-episode dark comedy Get Shorty (starring Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano) as well as the season two premieres of its timely, critically-acclaimed returning series: drama Berlin Station and comedy Graves (which garnered a Golden Globe nomination for star Nick Nolte).

ASHLEY JUDD SPIES FOR EPIX IN ‘BERLIN STATION’ SEASON TWO

ASHLEY JUDD SPIES FOR EPIX IN ‘BERLIN STATION’ SEASON TWO

Critically-Acclaimed Drama Series from Paramount Television and Anonymous Content To Begin Production In Berlin On March 31

New York, NY – March 21, 2017 – Premium network EPIX® announced today that Ashley Judd has joined the cast of its acclaimed spy drama Berlin Station as a series regular for season two. The series, from Paramount Television and Anonymous Content, will begin production in Berlin on March 31st with an eye towards a 2017 return on EPIX. As previously announced, also new to the cast this season is Keke Palmer (“Scream Queens”) as series regular, April Lewis.

Judd will play BB Yates, Berlin’s disarming new Chief of Station, nicknamed “The Station Whisperer” for her itinerant work in the field shoring up CIA stations in moral or corporate disrepair. Part company loyalist and part maverick, BB toes a dangerous line between serving those above her and empowering those below her. Always a contradiction, she arrives in Berlin to defy expectations and breathe new life into the troubled CIA station she now runs.

“We are thrilled to welcome the incredibly talented Ashley Judd to the cast of Berlin Station,” said Mark Greenberg, President and CEO of EPIX. “With its illustrious auspices among both cast and producers – and subject matter that is more timely than ever – Berlin Station brings the kind of high-quality, compelling storytelling for which EPIX is known. We couldn’t be more excited to embark on a new season.”

“We are excited to have Ashley and Keke on board and are eager to begin the second season of this critically acclaimed show in the intriguing city of Berlin with our outstanding partners at EPIX,” said Amy Powell, President, Paramount TV.

An eighth generation Eastern Kentuckian, Ashley Judd first proved her acting abilities in her debut feature film role as Ruby Lee Gissing in Victor Nunez’s internationally acclaimed Ruby In Paradise. Having won major acting awards worldwide, Judd has demonstrated her range in a variety of genres and is a proven box office draw. Judd recently appeared in Black Bear Pictures’ “Barry” as Ann Dunham, Barack Obama’s mother, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016. Additionally, Judd was seen in Insurgent, the second film in the Divergent franchise based on Veronica Roth’s New York Times bestselling trilogy, Divergent; and starred in ABC’s miniseries “Missing” as Becca Winstone, an ex-CIA agent who would do anything to get her son back after discovering his disappearance while studying abroad. Judd was nominated for an Emmy® Award for her performance in “Missing.” Judd is represented by WME and Anonymous Content.

Berlin Station is a contemporary spy drama that takes a look at the activity of a CIA office on a global stage in the midst of an investigation into a now-infamous whistleblower. The series follows Daniel Miller, played by Richard Armitage (The Hobbit, “Hannibal”) a new arrival to Berlin’s CIA station who is on a clandestine mission to uncover the source of the Thomas Shaw leaks. Berlin Station also stars Rhys Ifans, Richard Jenkins, Michelle Forbes and Leland Orser.

The series is created and executive produced by Olen Steinhauer (author: The TouristAll The Old KnivesThe Cairo Affair).  Bradford Winters (“Dig,” “The Americans,” “Boss,” “Oz”) serves as executive producer and showrunner.  Academy Award® winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, “House of Cards”), along with Steve Golin, Kerry Kohansky-Roberts, Keith Redmon and Luke Rivett from Anonymous Content (“True Detective,” “The Knick,” “Mr. Robot”) also executive produce.  The series is produced by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content.

Berlin Station season two is part of EPIX’s continued rollout of original scripted series this year, which also features the debut of the 10-episode dark comedy Get Shorty (starring Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano) as well as the return of its timely comedy Graves (which garnered a Golden Globe nomination for star Nick Nolte).

EPIX SETS WORLD TV PREMIERE FOR EMMY AND PEABODY AWARD WINNING

BLUMHOUSE TELEVISION’S “ELECTION DAY: LENS ACROSS AMERICA

EPIX ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY TO AIR TUESDAY, JAN. 17 AT 8/7C

Documentary Directed by Emma Tammi and Henry Jacobson Offers a Non-Partisan Look through the Lenses of Seven Photographers as they Capture the Historic and Surprising Culmination of America’s 2016 Presidential Election

New York, NY – January 10, 2017 – Premium TV network EPIX® announced today that the EPIX Original Documentary Election Day: Lens Across America from Emmy and Peabody Award Winning Blumhouse Television and directors Emma Tammi and Henry Jacobson will make its world television premiere on Tuesday, January 17 at 8/7C. The timely documentary weaves together the stories behind the work of seven photographers as they cover one of the most surprising election days in American history, each from a different perspective and location. Following the day’s chronology, the narrative cuts in “real time” between the photographers on the ground in Iowa, Virginia, Georgia, Pennsylvania and New York. The photographers, through their images and conversations with their subjects, capture an honest and non-partisan look at the many raw emotions of Americans on this one fateful day.

Mark S. Greenberg, President and CEO of EPIX, said: “With emotions across the globe still running at a fever pitch in anticipation of the 2017 Presidential Inauguration, we at EPIX want to reflect on the unpredictable election day and subsequent outcome that will continue to shape our country over the next four years. Election Day: Lens Across America is an extremely timely work that uses the unique perspective of seven acclaimed photographers to tell the dynamic stories of individuals across the political spectrum as they process the polling results within their respective communities and at polling places across the country.”

Marci Wiseman and Jeremy Gold, Co-Presidents of Blumhouse Television said: “We are excited to continue building Blumhouse Television’s slate of original documentaries with Emma and Henry’s thought provoking and compelling Election Day: Lens Across America and are thrilled to partner with EPIX.”

Tammi and Jacobson said: “We are honored to be working with EPIX and Blumhouse Television to bring this portrait of our country to viewers. Our hope is that this film helps give some perspective to what has been, perhaps, the most divisive political season in our nation’s history.”

The photographers featured in the documentary are:

  • Landon Nordeman is a photojournalist who regularly contributes to New York Magazine, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and other publications. On Election Day, Nordeman covered Hillary Clinton’s party at the Javits Center on assignment from TIME, documenting the mood in the room as it devolved from hope and excitement, to shock and despair.

  • Danny Wilcox Frazier is a member of the renowned VII Photo Agency. On Election Day, he traveled through his home state of Iowa, photographing rural polling places and watching the results come in at Trump Headquarters in Des Moines.

  • Matt Eich is a photographic essayist living in Charlottesville, VA. On Election Day, Matt traveled to the polling places around a largely military community in Norfolk, VA spending the day interviewing and photographing voters for a medium format portrait project.

  • Larry Fink is a legendary documentary photographer whose work regularly appears in Vanity Fair, New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker, and can be found in the collections of the major museums around the world. On Election Day, we find Larry working around his home in Eastern Pennsylvania.

  • Sam Cannon is a 24-year old video artist living in Brooklyn. On Election Day, she took her studio into the streets, capturing passersby as they destroyed devices she loaded with looping media from this contentious campaign.

  • Mark Abramson is a young photojournalist in New York City known for his double exposure work. On Election Day, Abramson went to Donald Trump’s party in New York and took to the streets to shoot the reactions to the realization that Trump was going to win.

  • Sheila Pree Bright is an award-winning fine art photographer based in Atlanta, GA, focusing largely on issues of race and representation in American culture. On Election Day, Sheila focused on the African American community in Atlanta.

Election Day: Lens Across America, an EPIX Original Documentary/Blumhouse Television Production.  Jason Blum, Marci Wiseman, Jeremy Gold and Jessica Rhoades are executive producing for Blumhouse along with Emma Tammi and Henry Jacobson of Mind Hive Film and Adam Barton, Sam Bathrick, and Alex Cullen of Resonant Pictures. For EPIX, Jocelyn Diaz and Jill Burkhart are executive producers, with Valerie Bishop Pearson serving as producer.

Election Day: Lens Across America is the latest documentary from Blumhouse Television joining the Emmy and Peabody award winning The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst and the Peabody award winning How to Dance in Ohio.

NICK NOLTE NOMINATED FOR GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD FOR HIS LEADING ROLE IN THE EPIX ORIGINAL COMEDY SERIES “GRAVES”

NICK NOLTE NOMINATED FOR GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD FOR HIS LEADING ROLE IN THE EPIX ORIGINAL COMEDY SERIES “GRAVES”

From Lionsgate, Season One Finale This Sunday, December 18 at 9/8c on EPIX; Season Two to Start Production Shortly

NEW YORK, NY – December 12, 2016 – Premium TV network EPIX® received its first ever Golden Globe nomination for Nick Nolte’s leading role in the original comedy “Graves.” The Best Performance By An Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy nomination was announced today by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

“We are incredibly honored for the support and recognition of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association of Nick Nolte’s masterful portrayal of a former President who endeavors to make good on a less than auspicious political career in one of our first original series ‘Graves,’” said EPIX President and CEO Mark S. Greenberg. “’Graves’ was undeniably prescient in its reflection of issues that surfaced on the debate floors of this year’s election, many of which were once thought too outrageous in the writers’ room only to see them come to life during the Presidential campaign.”

The half-hour series premiered Sunday, October 16 at 9pm ET/PT, supported by an extensive national marketing and promotional campaign. The penultimate episode aired last night and this Sunday, December 18 the first season will air its finale on EPIX. Production on season two is slated for early spring 2017.

“Graves” follows former two-term Republican President Richard Graves (Nick Nolte, A Walk In The Woods) as he embarks on a Don Quixote-like quest to right the wrongs of his administration and reclaim his legacy 25 years after leaving the White House. His enlightenment takes place as his wife Margaret (Sela Ward, Gone Girl), decides to pursue her own political ambitions. The series also stars Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect) as over-eager assistant to President Graves, Isaiah Miller; Heléne Yorke (“Masters of Sex”) as first daughter Olivia who moves back home when her life spirals out of control; Chris Lowell (The Help) as Jeremy, the underachieving first son who returns home from war in Afghanistan; and Callie Hernandez (Alien: Covenant) as Samantha, the free-spirited waitress who becomes the President’s muse. Season two will start production shortly in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A three-time Academy Award® nominee and Golden Globe winner, Nolte has masterfully portrayed a wide range of roles. Most recently he was seen in A Walk in the Woods, co-starring Robert Redford. He also starred in Lionsgate’s coming-of-age mixed martial-arts drama Warrior, for which he received Academy Award®, Screen Actors Guild and Broadcast Film Critics nominations for Best Supporting Actor. His additional film credits include: Affliction, for which he received Academy Award®, Golden Globe® and Independent Film nominations for Best Actor; The Prince of Tides, for which he received an Oscar® nomination for Best Actor and won the Golden Globe® for Best Actor; Tropic Thunder; Spiderwick Chronicles; The Beautiful Country; Clean; The Peaceful Warrior; Neverwas; Over the Hedge; Hotel Rwanda; The Good Thief; The Hulk; Northfork; Investigating Sex; U-Turn; Afterglow; Jefferson In Paris; Cape Fear; Down and Out in Beverly Hills; 48 Hours; Weeds; and Q&A. His production company Kingsgate currently has in development White Jazz, with a script by James Ellroy, based on his best-selling film noir novel, and The Last Magic Summer, an adaptation of the Peter Gent novel of the same name.

From Lionsgate, “Graves” was created by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote, Jobs) who also serves as showrunner and Academy Award® winner Greg Shapiro (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) is the executive producer.  Executive Producers on the first season include Keith Eisner and Eric Weinberg, with David Iserson as Supervising Producer and Bill Hill, Lisa Parsons and Abby Genwanter as producers.
