NICK NOLTE NOMINATED FOR GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD FOR HIS LEADING ROLE IN THE EPIX ORIGINAL COMEDY SERIES “GRAVES”

From Lionsgate, Season One Finale This Sunday, December 18 at 9/8c on EPIX; Season Two to Start Production Shortly

NEW YORK, NY – December 12, 2016 – Premium TV network EPIX® received its first ever Golden Globe nomination for Nick Nolte’s leading role in the original comedy “Graves.” The Best Performance By An Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy nomination was announced today by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

“We are incredibly honored for the support and recognition of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association of Nick Nolte’s masterful portrayal of a former President who endeavors to make good on a less than auspicious political career in one of our first original series ‘Graves,’” said EPIX President and CEO Mark S. Greenberg. “’Graves’ was undeniably prescient in its reflection of issues that surfaced on the debate floors of this year’s election, many of which were once thought too outrageous in the writers’ room only to see them come to life during the Presidential campaign.”

The half-hour series premiered Sunday, October 16 at 9pm ET/PT, supported by an extensive national marketing and promotional campaign. The penultimate episode aired last night and this Sunday, December 18 the first season will air its finale on EPIX. Production on season two is slated for early spring 2017.

“Graves” follows former two-term Republican President Richard Graves (Nick Nolte, A Walk In The Woods) as he embarks on a Don Quixote-like quest to right the wrongs of his administration and reclaim his legacy 25 years after leaving the White House. His enlightenment takes place as his wife Margaret (Sela Ward, Gone Girl), decides to pursue her own political ambitions. The series also stars Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect) as over-eager assistant to President Graves, Isaiah Miller; Heléne Yorke (“Masters of Sex”) as first daughter Olivia who moves back home when her life spirals out of control; Chris Lowell (The Help) as Jeremy, the underachieving first son who returns home from war in Afghanistan; and Callie Hernandez (Alien: Covenant) as Samantha, the free-spirited waitress who becomes the President’s muse. Season two will start production shortly in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A three-time Academy Award® nominee and Golden Globe winner, Nolte has masterfully portrayed a wide range of roles. Most recently he was seen in A Walk in the Woods, co-starring Robert Redford. He also starred in Lionsgate’s coming-of-age mixed martial-arts drama Warrior, for which he received Academy Award®, Screen Actors Guild and Broadcast Film Critics nominations for Best Supporting Actor. His additional film credits include: Affliction, for which he received Academy Award®, Golden Globe® and Independent Film nominations for Best Actor; The Prince of Tides, for which he received an Oscar® nomination for Best Actor and won the Golden Globe® for Best Actor; Tropic Thunder; Spiderwick Chronicles; The Beautiful Country; Clean; The Peaceful Warrior; Neverwas; Over the Hedge; Hotel Rwanda; The Good Thief; The Hulk; Northfork; Investigating Sex; U-Turn; Afterglow; Jefferson In Paris; Cape Fear; Down and Out in Beverly Hills; 48 Hours; Weeds; and Q&A. His production company Kingsgate currently has in development White Jazz, with a script by James Ellroy, based on his best-selling film noir novel, and The Last Magic Summer, an adaptation of the Peter Gent novel of the same name.

From Lionsgate, “Graves” was created by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote, Jobs) who also serves as showrunner and Academy Award® winner Greg Shapiro (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) is the executive producer.  Executive Producers on the first season include Keith Eisner and Eric Weinberg, with David Iserson as Supervising Producer and Bill Hill, Lisa Parsons and Abby Genwanter as producers.
