‘A LIAR’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY’ MAKES WORLD PREMIERE AT TIFF
WITH U.S. PREMIERE ON EPIX AND IN SELECT THEATRES NOVEMBER 2

New York, NY, July 24, 2012 – EPIX, the premium entertainment network, and Brainstorm Media will present the EPIX Original Movie and animated feature A Liar’s Autobiography – The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as a Special Presentation. Fellow Python member Terry Jones plus the film’s directors Bill Jones (Jones’ son), Ben Timlett, and Jeff Simpson will be in attendance for the world premiere at the festival.

Following TIFF, the film will premiere on EPIX and in select U.S. theaters in 3D on Friday, November 2, 2012, and theatrically in the U.K. and Canada. Brainstorm Media is the U.S. theatrical distributor of the film. Trinity is handling U.K. distribution and Entertainment One is handling Canadian distribution.

Graham Chapman, probably best remembered as ‘the dead one from Monty Python’, writes and stars in the animated movie of his own life story, “A Liar’s Autobiography”. He was born, he went to Cambridge and met John Cleese, he smoked a pipe, he became a doctor, he became a Python, he decided he was gay (well, 70/30, according to a survey he did on himself), he got drunk a lot, he stopped being drunk, he made some films, he had some sex (actually, a lot), and moved to Los Angeles. Finally, he was whisked up into space by aliens (although that might have been in a film).

Featuring recordings of Chapman that he made of his book in 1982 and matched with recorded sound from present, the film reunites members of the Monty Python troupe and brings Chapman back to life in a tour de force of animation through 17 different animation styles from 14 different animators.

“EPIX is dedicated to bringing interesting projects to life for our viewers and we are particularly glad to take a hand in this unique production early on to make it possible,” said EPIX CEO Mark Greenberg.

“We’ve enjoyed working with Bill, Ben, and Jeff on the production and are excited about expanding our relationship with EPIX by bringing the movie both to theatrical and TV audiences simultaneously,” said Meyer Shwarzstein, President, Brainstorm Media.

EPIX and Brainstorm Media present, in association with Trinity, A Liar’s Autobiography – The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman.

Jim Norton: Please Be Offended – Premiering on June 30th

In his first EPIX comedy special, comedian and bestselling author Jim Norton, a regular on Sirius/XM’s “The Opie and Anthony Show” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” performs unfiltered and uncensored in front an audience of rabid fans in Cleveland, Ohio.  Addressing such things as the increasing amount of privacy invasion, the hypocrisy of people who are appalled by this, and the oversensitivity of everyone about almost everything, Norton, in his self-deprecating style, proves that being offended can often be hilarious.

William Shatner’s Get a Life! – Premiering in July

Based on Shatner’s hugely popular book, this film examines the mystery, longevity and the cultural phenomena of Star Trek and its long-obsessed fans known as “Trekkers.”  On the surface, the film is an exploration of strangers who have for years attended conventions which looked foolish and almost laughable to some – but what Shatner discovers is the many secrets and hidden motives behind these individuals’ compulsion to attend these events.  The end result is a film that reveals a fun and touching side of the fanfare surrounding Star Trek, and examines the thrill of what’s happening at these fantasy conventions and the enduring popularity of the film and TV series as Shatner further embraces his role as Captain James T. Kirk and his own impact.

Lamas (Leave it to Lamas), Mary Woronov (Eating Raoul), Ted Raimi (Spider-Man), with cameo appearances by Corman himself and director John Landis (An American Werewolf in London, Animal House, The Blues Brothers).  Acclaimed visual effects artist Kevin O’Neill (Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula, Blade and Piranha 3D) directs.

Flight 800: A 14-Year Investigation Cracks the Case – Premiering in September

It was called “the largest aviation investigation in US and world history” by the man who led it in 1996.  But it was also the most controversial.  Now, a team of insiders from that investigation come forward in this feature documentary to blow the lid off a multi-agency cover-up of what really happened to TWA Flight 800.  The team was brought together by an extraordinarily persistent scientist 20 years their junior who himself spent 14 years investigating the crash.  A riveting story of intense personal journeys and a grand-scale exposé with breathtaking implications.
