First Premium TV Network to launch an app in the Windows Store

New York, New York (December 19, 2013) – Premium TV network EPIX today announced the launch of the EPIX app on Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 platform, making EPIX the first premium TV network available as an authenticated app in the Windows Store. This launch will expand EPIX’s availability beyond set-top boxes, game consoles, iOS and Android tablets and phones to the rest of the device universe including PCs and tablets from HP, Dell, Sony and Lenovo.

“Launching the EPIX app on Windows 8.1 expands our collaboration with Microsoft to offer subscribers unparalleled content and experience from any device at any time,” said Mark Greenberg, President and CEO of EPIX. “We are thrilled to bring our premium content to a top technology company such as Microsoft which marks the evolution and growth of the EPIX footprint across new platforms and devices.”

A leader in multiplatform availability, EPIX adds tremendous entertainment value to its authenticated subscribers – providing access to more than 3,000 titles on-demand, including top blockbuster hits The Hunger Games, Skyfall, World War Z and Star Trek: Into Darkness, plus concerts featuring Madonna and P!NK, comedy specials with Jenny McCarthy and Patton Oswalt, and thought-provoking documentaries such as TWA Flight 800 and Schooled: The Price of College Sports.

“Apps come to life on Windows 8.1 thanks to features like Live Tiles and search integration,” said Todd Brix, general manager, Windows Apps and Store, Microsoft Corp. “Only EPIX users on Windows 8.1 can take advantage of Live Tiles to see the latest content, pause and pin their favorite movies directly to their Start screen to resume watching later directly where they left off.”

The ability to stream full movies and concerts on the Windows 8.1 system is included as part of the EPIX premium subscription service available through cable, satellite and telco distributors.  The EPIX app will be available to Windows 8.1 users in the U.S. as a free download in the Windows Store, with a two week free subscription trial.
