EPIX NAMES RACHEL BRILL SVP, HEAD OF UNSCRIPTED PROGRAMMING

Industry powerhouse to lead unscripted programming, reporting to Michael Wright, President, EPIX

NEW YORK, NY – March 7, 2018 – Michael Wright, President of EPIX, the premium pay TV network owned by Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), announced today that Rachel Brill has been named SVP, Head of Unscripted Programming. She reports to Wright, working out of the EPIX Los Angeles office at MGM’s headquarters and starts immediately.

Brill is responsible for development and production of all unscripted series. She spent three years working with Michael Wright at Turner (TNT and tbs), shepherding their unscripted efforts and will work with him to ensure EPIX is continuing to innovate and advance its premium, award-winning programming, expanding the slate of unscripted series.

Brill’s credit list of production partners includes A-listers: Dwayne Johnson, Dick Wolf, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Jerry Bruckheimer, Joan Rivers, Kim Kardashian West, Howard Stern, with original content created for Disney Channel, NBC, CMT, SiriusXM, TV Land, Margaritaville, Viceland, YouTube, Facebook and Discovery Science, among others.

Most recently, Brill co-created and Executive Produced RITUAL, a doc series in partnership with ACE Media/NFLPA, streamed in 224 countries as an Amazon Prime Original before NFL’s Thursday Night Football franchise; Nuts + Bolts, the maker series on Viceland driven by Tyler​​ the Creator; and the new Simone Giertz project, Simone’s Got Problems.

Brill started her career and spent ten years at ZOO Productions where she headed up all development and branded content efforts, and was instrumental in the global hit, Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? and the hidden camera series Girls Behaving Badly, starring Chelsea Handler.

EPIX’s unscripted programming includes American Divided, a docu-series in production for its second season with executive producer Norman Lear, and Serena, 2017 Realscreen award winner for best non-fiction-sports documentary.  Coming later this year:  This Is Home, which won the 2018 Sundance Film Festival World Cinema Documentary Audience Award; and a new version of the iconic Contender boxing series produced by Mark Burnett.

EPIX recently announced the hiring of Nancy Cotton as the new Head of Scripted Programming. The network’s scripted programming includes critically acclaimed original series: Get Shorty, starring Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano, renewed for its second season; and Berlin Station, starring Richard Armitage, Ashley Judd and Richard Jenkins, renewed for its third season; and The Truth About Harry Quebert, starring Patrick Dempsey, currently in post-production.  The lineup also features thousands of popular hit movies and film franchises including James Bond, Rocky, Mission Impossible and Star Trek.
