EPIX JOINS HONDA TO INTRODUCE FIRST CONNECTED CAR ENTERTAINMENT VIDEO SERVICE

EPIX App Launches as Part of 2018 Honda Odyssey Rear-Seat Entertainment System

First Entertainment Network to Launch in Connected Cars Worldwide, Extends TV Everywhere Availability

New York, NY — (June 07, 2017) – Premium entertainment network EPIX, an MGM company, announced that its streaming video app will be integrated into the available rear-seat entertainment systems of Honda’s 2018 Odyssey minivan. EPIX is the first entertainment service globally to launch an app that makes its movies, original series and other original programming available to passengers in a connected car through an EPIX subscription. This innovative new distribution platform underscores the network’s commitment to strengthening the TV Everywhere experience to meet consumers where they are, further making vehicles true mobile platforms to watch video. The connected car platform is powered by Delphi Automotive in conjunction with OpenMobile World Wide, a leading software company that integrates Android compatibility solutions for the automotive and transportation industries.

“We are excited to be the first entertainment network to partner with Honda for this key inflection point in the world of smart connected vehicles and video,” said Mark Greenberg, President and CEO of EPIX. “As vehicles evolve to become the ultimate mobile device, we are pleased to work with Honda to develop new entertainment experiences for second and third row passengers and pioneer this next chapter of streaming video and true TV Everywhere.”

“EPIX has a deep roadmap of innovative features planned in the coming months, including new ways to download content to your Honda entertainment system using other mobile devices in and out of vehicles,” added Jon Dakss, Chief Digital Officer, EPIX. “We’re also tracking the rapid technological advances in the autonomous vehicle space as we believe they will create extraordinary new ways for people to access premium content while they travel”.

Honda Odyssey passengers sitting in the second and third rows will have access to the network’s breadth of premium content: thousands of movies on demand including big franchises such as James Bond, The Hunger Games and Star Trek; critically acclaimed original series Berlin Station, Golden Globe nominated Graves and, coming August 13th, Get Shorty; groundbreaking documentaries such as America Divided; music and comedy events from Katy Perry, Louis CK, Wanda Sykes and more.

“The 2018 Honda Odyssey is a great leap forward in connectivity, with an emphasis on communication between family members and their connections to digital content,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of America Honda Motor Co., Inc. “the Odyssey accomplishes this with available features such as CabinWatch and CabinTalk plus our relationship with EPIX providing second and third row passengers with access to streaming digital content.”
