Alexander Said

Played By Zubin Varla

Zubin Varla stars in DEEP STATE as “Alexander Said,” British Muslim, late 40’s, and the de facto leader of the Tehran unit of The Section. Dedicated. Talented. Experienced. Said was very close to Max and when Max disappeared he became close to Harry – something akin to a surrogate godparent. And it’s Harry that’s going to prove to be his Achilles heel.

Zubin Varla has had an extremely successful career in theatre having trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His work includes Jesus Christ Superstar and Beautiful Thing in London’s West End, Romeo & Juliet and Lady Be Good at the Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park, Antigone at the Old Vic, and the title role in Dara at The National Theatre in London.

Zubin starred in the 2009 film Mad, Sad and Bad opposite Meera Syal and Nitin Ganatra. In TV he’s featured in many popular British series including Strike Back, Holby City, The Bill, Hustle and Silent Witness as well as Our Girl opposite Michelle Keegan and Ben Aldridge.
