Nick Murphy

Nick Murphy is a BAFTA winning director known for piloting the Netflix hit series The Last Kingdom and Save Me (Sky Atlantic/Starz) as well as A Christmas Carol (FX), and celebrated British productions Prey (ITV), The Secret (ITV) and Occupation (BBC).

Of his last six projects for British television, four have either won or been nominated for a BAFTA for Best Series. He has also won two Royal Television Society awards.

Save Me starring Lennie James (The Walking Dead) was both critically lauded and the ‘fastest binged’ drama ever produced by Sky television. Season 3 is now in production and The Last Kingdom has just completed season 5 with a movie in production.

A Christmas Carol staring Guy Pearce (Jack Irish, LA Confidential), Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, King Kong) and Stephen Graham (The Irishman, Boardwalk Empire) was a bold, dark retelling of the Dickens classic written by Steve Knight.

In 2011 Nick wrote and directed the supernatural horror movie The Awakening staring Rebecca Hall. The following year he made his second feature, Blood, produced by Sam Mendes, starring Paul Bettany (Avengers, A Beautiful Mind) and Mark Strong (Kick Ass, Kingsman).

Nick began his career as an observational documentary filmmaker for the BBC, a background that inspired much of the visceral realism that his dramatic work is known for. He lives between London and Los Angeles.
