Goya Robles stars in GET SHORTY as “Yago,” Amara’s violent nephew. He’s insecure and obsessed with proving himself, which makes him incredibly dangerous. Yago recently got an online degree from a community college and was promoted to a commanding position in Amara’s crime ring, much to the dismay of those now under him. Petty and volatile, you do not want to be on his bad side.


Goya Robles is of Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian descent and grew up in Connecticut. His portrayal of heart breaking, volatile, vulnerable characters are a stamp in his work. He has starred in numerous independent films including a lead role in 11:55, Danger One and Narrow Streets. He guest starred on the CBS show The Mentalist and in IFC’s The Whitest Kids You Know.

 

Goya played the role of Jackie in the Actors Studio’s The Motherfucker with the Hat in LA. He starred in the LAByrinth Theater Barn Series staged reading of Mark Borkowski’s, Valentino’s Wing, starring Michael Shannon and Annabella Sciorra, and directed by Ellen Burstyn. He also played Raul in Extremities and Richard in Crystal Clear, both off-Broadway productions at the Dance New Amsterdam Theater in New York. Goya is a poet and teaches slam poetry at the Lee Strasberg Institute in West Hollywood. His first compilation of poems was released at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe under the name Spit My Soul. He is a Lifetime member of The Actors Studio and holds an MFA from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University.
