Edward Burns

 

Edward Burns recently completed his 13th feature, Beneath the Blue Suburban Skies, which premiered to outstanding reviews at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.

 

Burns also executive produced and starred in the finale episode of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories for Amblin Partners, Universal Television and Apple Television, which premiered in March on Apple’s highly celebrated new platform.

 

The project reunited Burns and Spielberg, who directed Burns alongside Tom Hanks and Matt Damon in the World War II epic, Saving Private Ryan.

 

Spielberg also executive produced Burns’ police drama Public Morals in which Burns wrote, directed, produced and starred in every episode for TNT. The series, which premiered in 2015 to outstanding reviews and also starred the late Brian Dennehy.

 

Burns recently completed his coming-of-age romance, Summertime, having premiered the film at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, and set to be released in early 2021.

 

Ed Burns was born in Woodside, Queens and raised on Long Island. While at Hunter College in New York City, Burns switched his focus from English to filmmaking before quickly moving on to make The Brothers McMullen.  He lives in New York City with his wife and two children.
