ANNA MAXWELL MARTIN is a multi-BAFTA-award winning British actress, known for her wealth of work across TV, film and stage. Her broad body of work showcases her versatility.  

 

Some of her best-known TV credits include Beelzebub in GOOD OMENS (BBC/Amazon), with Michael Sheen; AND THEN THERE WERE NONE; THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF AGATHA CHRISTIE (Sky Arts); DEATH COMES TO PEMBERLEY (BBC); THE ACCUSED (BBC); THE BLETCHLEY CIRCLE (ITV); THE NIGHTWATCH (BBC); DR WHO (BBC); BLEAK HOUSE (BBC); MIDWINTER OF THE SPIRIT (ITV); NORTH AND SOUTH (BBC); Sky’s CODE 404 as well as the ITV thriller HOLLINGTON DRIVE. 

 

Her film credits include Armando Iannucci’s THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD, with Dev Patel; Stephen Frears’ PHILOMENA, with Judi Dench; comedy-drama THE DUKE; THE ALAN PARTRIDGE MOVIE, with Steve Coogan; and ENDURING LOVE. 

 

Anna’s extensive work in theatre includes Lyra Belacqua in Nicholas Hytner’s original 2003 HIS DARK MATERIALS (National Theatre); Sally Bowles in Rufus Norris’ productions of CABARET (Lyric); Isabella in Michael Attenborough’s MEASURE FOR MEASURE (Almeida); Lady Macbeth in Carrie Cracknell’s MACBETH (Young Vic); Irina in Katie Mitchell’s THREE SISTERS (National Theatre); and the role of Kitty in Roger Mitchell’s CONSENT (National Theatre). 

 

Anna starred in BBC’s LINE OF DUTY and reprised her role as the main character, Julia, in the third series of the BBC’s hit comedy MOTHERLAND. She starred Marianne, opposite Chris O’Dowd, in Nick Payne’s beautiful and heart-breaking romance CONSTELLATIONS, which will be revived with a twist in the West End at the Donmar Warehouse. 

 

Anna can next be seen in the IT adaptation of A SPY AMONG FRIENDS alongside Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis coming to ITVX this November.
