Alex Cary

Alexander Cary is a London born former soldier who resigned his commission after seven

years and enlisted in the the film school at UCLA where he learned he had stories to tell and

that writing his own material might open doors into film and television faster than a degree.

Fifteen years and a marriage later he got his first television writing job on “The Riches” (for FX,

starring Eddie Izard and Minnie Driver). Since then has written and produced several different

pilots and shows and won an Emmy for his work on the first series of “Homeland” (for

Showtime, starring Claire Canes and Damian Lewis).

“A Spy Among Friends” is the first of several books by Ben Macintyre that Alexander is

adapting. It has reunited him with Damian Lewis and is also the first show he has written and

produced in the UK, which has made it somewhat of a homecoming, and a happy one at that.

Alexander has two grown sons of whom he’s very proud, and is married to the love of his life.
