NEW YORK, NY—December 5, 2022—Premium linear channel and streaming service MGM+ today announced new casting for the second season of its epic, sweeping historical drama series, Domina. Taking place during one of the most provocative periods in Roman history, the series follows the extraordinary rise of Gaius/Emperor Augustus Caesar’s third wife, Livia Drusilla, played by Kasia Smutniak (Perfetti Sconosciuti, Loro, Devils).

Domina is produced by Tiger Aspect—part of Banijay UK—in association with MGM+ Studios, following an agreement with leading global distributor Banijay Rights. Domina recently finished production at the historic Cinecittà Studios in Rome and is scheduled to premiere on MGM+ in 2023, with the second season also returning to Sky across Europe in 2023.

Domina Season Two chronicles the struggle for control of the Roman Empire, and of Rome’s Imperial Family, from a rare female perspective. In its first season, Livia Drusilla, the golden girl of the prominent Claudii family, returned to Rome after 10 years in exile, determined to regain everything that was stolen from her. Now, atop a fractious empire and a dysfunctional dynasty, she must fight to preserve her marriage to Gaius and find a way to seat one of her sons on the throne, as new and old rivals jockey for position in a world where it’s impossible to know who to trust.

The series is created by Simon Burke (Fortitude, Strike Back), with Burke, head of Tiger Aspect Drama Lucy Bedford, Muirinn Lane Kelly, and Carmel Maloney as executive producers. MGM+ has the U.S. rights, with the second season returning to Sky across Europe in 2023. Banijay Rights is the worldwide distributor.

BEVERLY HILLS, California—November 29, 2022—Today, the premium and commercial-free linear channel and streaming service MGM+ announced that it has picked up the scripted crime drama A Spy Among Friends, based on the New York Times best-selling book written by Ben Macintyre. The six-episode limited series dramatizes the true story of two British spies and lifelong friends, Nicholas Elliott and Kim Philby. The latter became the most notorious British defector and Soviet double agent in history. Philby’s deeply personal betrayal, uncovered at the height of the Cold War, resulted in the gutting of British and American intelligence. The series will premiere domestically on MGM+ in 2023. Internationally, A Spy Among Friends was commissioned by ITV for new streaming service ITVX, which will be premiering the series in the UK in December.

Produced by ITV Studios in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television, A Spy Among Friends stars Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning actor Damian Lewis (Homeland, Billions) and Emmy winner Guy Pearce (Jack Irish, Mare of Easttown). Additional cast members include Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland, Line of Duty), Stephen Kunken (Billions, The Handmaid’s Tale), and Adrian Edmondson (Back to Life, The Pact).

Damian Lewis will also serve as executive producer through his production company, Ginger Biscuit Entertainment. Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning British writer Alexander Cary (Homeland, Taken) serves as creator and executive producer, alongside BAFTA Award winners Patrick Spence (Adult Material, Litvinenko) and Nick Murphy (Save Me, A Christmas Carol),  and BAFTA Award nominee Chrissy Skinns (Elizabeth Is MissingThe Last Kingdom). Bob Bookman (The Mosquito Coast), Alan Gasmer (Vikings, Dublin Murders), and Peter Jaysen (The Mosquito Coast, Dublin Murders) serve as executive producers for Veritas Entertainment Group. The series is directed by Murphy.

“I’m very happy to be bringing our Cold War tale of friendship and betrayal to MGM+. They’re the perfect partners for us and I can’t wait for people to see it,” said Damian Lewis.

“Alex Cary has brilliantly adapted Ben Macintyre’s historical novel about friendship, loyalty, and betrayal. He, along with Nick Murphy, Damian Lewis, and the remarkable cast led by Lewis and Guy Pearce, have brought to life this riveting tale of two British spies whose deep personal bond and long friendship is challenged by duplicity and deception,” said Michael Wright, head of MGM+. “This series is emblematic of our new MGM+ brand and the rich, cinematic, and character-driven stories we aim to tell.”

“Ben Macintyre is an unbelievably talented writer. Alex Cary has taken this fascinating story and created a suspenseful—and at times heartbreaking—drama about duty, honor, and friendship,” added Lauren Stein, EVP, drama development, Sony Pictures Television. “Watching Damian, Guy, and Anna bring it to life is like watching a master class and I am so excited for people to get to experience the show.”

MGM+ and Prime Video Order Suite of Live-Action Series Based On Marvel Characters from Sony Pictures Television

Silk: Spider Society to be first series produced

Angela Kang joins as showrunner as part of a multi-year overall television deal at Amazon Studios

Silk: Spider Society series to debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel, followed by the global launch on Prime Video

CULVER CITY, California – November 17, 2022 – MGM+ and Prime Video announced today they have ordered a suite of live-action television series based on the Sony Pictures universe of Marvel characters, which includes over 900 characters.  The first series to be produced under the multi-series agreement is Silk: Spider Society, from Sony Pictures Television. The highly anticipated series will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and globally on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories thereafter.

As part of her recently signed multi-year overall television deal, Angela Kang will serve as showrunner. Kang developed the series with Academy Award winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal who will serve as executive producers.

“Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Sony’s recent live-action and animated reimagining of the Spider-Man franchise has represented some of the most dynamic superhero storytelling in film,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “Together with Angela Kang’s creative vision, we couldn’t be more pleased to bring Silk: Spider Society to our MGM+ and Prime Video customers.”

“We can’t wait to bring the adventures of Cindy Moon to life, thanks to the creative dream team of Chris and Phil, Angela and Amy, along with our partners at Marvel and Amazon,” said Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios.  “We know this exciting series with new and never-before-seen characters and storylines will wow audiences watching first on linear MGM+ and then around the world on Prime Video.”

“Angela is a pro’s pro whose perspective and creativity we greatly respect and admire. She’s also a hell of a lot of fun. She loves these characters and we feel really lucky for the chance to work with her to bring Cindy Moon’s story to the world” said Lord and Miller.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be joining the Amazon Studios family for this next chapter of my career. I look forward to working with the executive team on diverse, character-forward, watercooler shows for a global audience and am so excited to dive in to my first challenge—bringing Korean-American superhero Silk to life on screen, ” said Kang.

Based on characters created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Silk: Spider Society is inspired by the Marvel comics and follows Cindy Moon, a Korean-American woman bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker, as she escapes imprisonment and searches for her missing family on her way to becoming the superhero known as Silk.

Angela Kang is a Korean-American television writer and producer currently serving as showrunner on The Walking Dead and is executive producing its untitled Daryl spinoff. Additionally, she is developing multiple projects for the studio and network as a producer, including a series adaptation of the acclaimed fantasy novel Black Sun with the author Rebecca Roanhorse penning a pilot, and an adaptation of the near sci-fi novel The Postmortal by Drew Magary with executive producer Scott Derrickson. Kang launched her own production company in 2020, titled Kang & Co Entertainment, and hired Walking Dead producer Jason Sax who continues to serve as executive vice president of development.

New York, NY November 15 – Premium network EPIX today announced it has acquired the major new six-part limited series SAS: Rogue Heroes from global distributor Banijay Rights.

In a deal negotiated by Banijay Rights’ Matt Creasey, EVP Sales, Co-Productions and Acquisitions, the acquisition marks the first international deal for SAS: Rogue Heroes.

Produced by Kudos and Nebulastar for EPIX and BBC, SAS: Rogue Heroes is a dramatized account of how the world’s greatest Special Forces unit, the SAS, was formed under extraordinary circumstances in the darkest days of World War Two. Based on Ben Macintyre’s best-selling book of the same name, the series centers on David Stirling, an eccentric young officer, who is hospitalized after a training exercise gone wrong. Convinced that traditional commando units don’t work, Stirling creates a radical plan that flies in the face of all accepted rules of modern warfare. He fights for permission to recruit the toughest, boldest, and brightest soldiers for a small undercover unit that will create mayhem behind enemy lines. More rebels than soldiers, Stirling’s team is every bit as complicated, flawed, and reckless as it is brave and heroic.

SAS: Rogue Heroes is developed for television and written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Taboo, A Christmas Carol) and will be directed by Tom Shankland (The Serpent, The Missing), with Stephen Smallwood (The Serpent, Patrick Melrose) as producer. The series is executive produced by Karen Wilson, Martin Haines and Emma Kingsman-Lloyd for Kudos, and Tommy Bulfin for the BBC.  Commissioned by the BBC, SAS: Rogue Heroes will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Connor Swindells (Sex Education, Vigil) will play David Stirling, with Jack O’Connell (Skins, The North Water) as Paddy Mayne, Alfie Allen (Jojo Rabbit, Game of Thrones) as Jock Lewes, Tom Glynn-Carney (Dunkirk, The King) as SAS Founding member Mike Sadler, and Sofia Boutella (Modern Love, Atomic Blonde) as Eve. Dominic West (The Wire, Appropriate Adult) will play Lieutenant Colonel Wrangel Clarke.

“Steven Knight and Kudos have created a gripping historical drama that complements EPIX’s lineup of elevated storytelling,” said Michael Wright, President, EPIX & President MGM Scripted Television. “We’re delighted to be teaming up with Banijay Rights to give this series an exclusive home on EPIX for the American audience.”

SAS: Rogue Heroes is a masterstroke of a series from the visionary Steven Knight, packed with a stellar cast who bring this fantastic story to life. We are thrilled that EPIX have come on board to take this fantastic drama to a wider US audience,” said Matt Creasey, EVP Sales, Co-Productions and Acquisitions, Rest of the World, Banijay Rights.

Martin Haines, Co-Managing Director of Kudos added: “EPIX is a perfect partner that shares our vision and ambition. We are delighted they are our US partners on this epic show.”

The series will also star Amir El Masry (Industry, The One), Theo Barklem-Biggs (The First Team, Carnival Row), Corin Silva (The Bay, Emmerdale), Jacob Ifan (Bang, The Accident), Dónal Finn (Cursed, The Witcher), Jacob McCarthy (The Last Summer, A.P. Bio), César Domboy (Outlander, The Walk), Michael Schaeffer (Chernobyl, The Salisbury Poisonings) and Miles Jupp (The Great, The Durrells).

EPIX® RELEASES FIRST TEASER TRAILER FOR HORROR SERIES “FROM” AND ANNOUNCES PREMIERE DATE OF SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 20

WATCH TEASER: HERE

New York, NY – October 28, 2021 – Just in time for Halloween, EPIX® releases the first look teaser trailer for their contemporary sci-fi horror series, From, and announces a February 20, 2022 premiere date. Created and executive produced by John Griffin (Crater), directed and executive produced by Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones, Mr. Mercedes), and showrun and executive produced by Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Alias, Lost), From features a stellar ensemble cast lead by Harold Perrineau (Lost). The series unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town in middle America that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest – including the terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down.

From is a co-production between EPIX Studios and MGM International Television Productions, and is produced by Midnight Radio and AGBO. Production wrapped earlier this month in Halifax, NS. The series will be distributed by Netflix outside of the U.S.

Executive producer Jack Bender directed the first four episodes. Alongside Griffin, Bender and Pinkner as executive producers are Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec and Scott Rosenberg for Midnight Radio, and Anthony and Joe Russo and Mike Larocca for AGBO. Midnight Radio’s Adrienne Erickson will serve as co-executive producer.

Cast includes:

HAROLD PERRINEAU (Lost, Oz) – “Boyd Stevens”

Boyd Stevens is the sheriff whose Draconian rules have held the fragile town together, even as he searches for a way to escape this seemingly inescapable nightmare.

CATALINA SANDINO MORENO (Maria Full of Grace, The Affair) – “Tabitha Matthews”

Tabitha Matthews, struggling in the aftermath of tragedy, suddenly finds herself and her family trapped in the town.

EION BAILEY (Band of Brothers, Once Upon a Time) – “Jim Matthews”

Jim Matthews, along with his wife, Tabitha, struggles to find a way to keep his children safe and come to terms with this new reality even as they desperately search for a way back home.

HANNAH CHERAMY – “Julie”

Julie is the daughter of Jim and Tabitha Matthews (Eion Bailey, Catalina Sandino Moreno).  She’s in the throes of adolescence, still reeling from a family tragedy and now stuck in this terrifying new town – though, unexpectedly, her arrival here may be the best thing that’s ever happened to her.

SIMON WEBSTER – “Ethan”

Ethan is the younger brother of Julie Matthews, and the son of Jim and Tabitha. Ethan is routinely taunted by his big sister, who takes his gentle spirit for weakness. After a car crash leaves his family stuck in town, a gravely injured Ethan begins to feel changed by his surroundings.

RICKY HE (The Good Doctor) – “Kenny”

Kenny is Sheriff Boyd’s deputy, a first-generation immigrant trapped in this town with his parents. With his dad suffering from dementia and Kenny routinely getting called upon to help Boyd deal with some fresh catastrophe, Kenny is doing his best to rise to the occasion.

CHLOE VAN LANDSCHOOT – “Kristi”

Kristi was trapped in town during her 3rd year of med school and has assumed the role of town medic. She’s frequently called upon to handle problems that would rattle the nerves of the most veteran doctor.

SHAUN MAJUMDER – “Father Khatri”

Father Khatri cares for the spirits of the townsfolk. He’s strong, compassionate, and believes there are more important matters than just surviving this town — people must remember what they are surviving for.  There is also more to Father Khatri than first meets the eye.

CORTEON MOORE (Utopia Falls) – “Ellis”

Ellis is the estranged son of Sheriff Boyd and a resident of Colony House. He is a handsome young philosopher with the soul of an artist and a deep well of unresolved trauma and rage. Only time will tell if the broken relationship between Ellis and his father can ever be healed.

PEGAH GHAFOORI – “Fatima”

Fatima is a resident of Colony House and an Iranian immigrant to the US. Even here in this town she focuses on the good, like the fact that she never would have met Ellis, the love of her life, if not for this terrible place.

DAVID ALPAY (Castle Rock) – “Jade”

Jade is abrash, entitled tech hot shot, who just sold his company for hundreds of millions of dollars. What was meant to be an extravagant weekend celebration for Jade instead turns to horror when he finds himself trapped in a nightmarish town with seemingly no way out.

ELIZABETH SAUNDERS (Clarice) – “Donna”

Donna is the earthy, strong leader of Colony House -the town’s separatist faction. She is at once a caring, nurturing den mother to all of those at Colony House, and an unyielding, unforgiving force of nature that stands between Colony House and any who would threaten their way of life.

ELIZABETH MOY – “Tain-Chen”

Tain-Chen is Kenny’s mother and operates the town diner and supply depot. Her gentle but firm spirit may be necessary to keep the peace as unexpected events cause the residents of this nightmare town to start to fraction.

AVERY KONRAD – “Sara”

Sara is a true wildcard among the town’s residents: some think her mind was simply fractured by the nightmare of the town; others wonder if, in her madness, Sara is closer to the secrets of this place than anyone else.
