Announces Streaming Content Agreement With EPIX

NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – Dec 12, 2012) – Redbox Instant™ by Verizon, a joint venture between two market leaders, Redbox, a subsidiary of Coinstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSTR), and Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ), unveiled further details of its soon-to-launch service and announced agreements with Hollywood studios and device manufacturers that will bring thousands of popular movies to consumers at home and on the go.

Later this month, the Redbox Instant by Verizon beta product will launch to consumers. Priced at $8.00 per month, Redbox Instant by Verizon offers a high value subscription package that combines unlimited streaming of thousands of popular movies, including titles from premium network EPIX, with four one-night credits per month for the latest movie releases on DVD at Redbox® kiosks. For $1 more, or $9.00 per month, customers can opt to redeem their four credits for rentals on Blu-ray Disc™ at the kiosk.

By combining both disc and digital movie formats, Redbox Instant by Verizon subscriptions offer consumers access to Hollywood’s newest releases, as well as a rich catalog of popular movies, all for a great price. Customers can also use Redbox Instant by Verizon without a subscription and select new releases available for purchase or rental, or simply reserve for pick up at their local Redbox kiosk location, giving movie-lovers more choice and flexibility in how they watch their favorite films.

Through the agreement with EPIX, Redbox Instant by Verizon’s subscription customers will be able to instantly stream new releases such as Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and The Hunger Games from EPIX’s studio partners, Viacom’s Paramount Pictures (NASDAQ: VIA) and (NASDAQ: VIA.B), Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), and MGM 90 days after they premiere in the traditional premium window.

New releases from Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Paramount Pictures, Relativity and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be available in EST and VOD formats and will allow Redbox Instant by Verizon to support and provide multi-screen access to movies.

‘A LIAR’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY’ MAKES WORLD PREMIERE AT TIFF 
WITH U.S. PREMIERE ON EPIX AND IN SELECT THEATRES NOVEMBER 2

New York, NY, July 24, 2012 – EPIX, the premium entertainment network, and Brainstorm Media will present the EPIX Original Movie and animated feature A Liar’s Autobiography – The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as a Special Presentation. Fellow Python member Terry Jones plus the film’s directors Bill Jones (Jones’ son), Ben Timlett, and Jeff Simpson will be in attendance for the world premiere at the festival.

Following TIFF, the film will premiere on EPIX and in select U.S. theaters in 3D on Friday, November 2, 2012, and theatrically in the U.K. and Canada. Brainstorm Media is the U.S. theatrical distributor of the film. Trinity is handling U.K. distribution and Entertainment One is handling Canadian distribution.

Graham Chapman, probably best remembered as ‘the dead one from Monty Python’, writes and stars in the animated movie of his own life story, “A Liar’s Autobiography”. He was born, he went to Cambridge and met John Cleese, he smoked a pipe, he became a doctor, he became a Python, he decided he was gay (well, 70/30, according to a survey he did on himself), he got drunk a lot, he stopped being drunk, he made some films, he had some sex (actually, a lot), and moved to Los Angeles. Finally, he was whisked up into space by aliens (although that might have been in a film).

Featuring recordings of Chapman that he made of his book in 1982 and matched with recorded sound from present, the film reunites members of the Monty Python troupe and brings Chapman back to life in a tour de force of animation through 17 different animation styles from 14 different animators.

New York, NY, & Boston, MA, May 21, 2012 – EPIX today released data about the performance of its apps that demonstrate that its free previews which coincide with the marketing of free downloads of its apps on mobile devices and consumer electronics has enhanced EPIX’s ability to reach new, younger audiences, which enhances the value of pay TV subscriptions. Through freeviews on EPIX apps in addition to the linear channel and On Demand, EPIX has reached an extended audience to both increase awareness of the network and drive potential new subscribers for distribution partners. EPIX, the multiplatform premium entertainment service, made this announcement at the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) 2012 Cable Show in Boston.

Over the most recent EPIX free preview weekend, April 27-29, EPIX streamed over 200,000 hours of content to viewers via the EPIXapp.  Additionally, the number of downloads of EPIX apps tripled over the weekend compared to the entire previous month.

To date there have been five million downloads of the EPIX app on all devices, including Android powered phones and tablets, Roku players, Xbox consoles, and iOS devices like the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.  In the past 6 months, EPIX app downloads have more than doubled since the launch on Xbox and iOS devices.

Cannes, France – May 17, 2012 – Sphinx Productions, EPIX, the multiplatform premium entertainment service, Astral’s The Movie Network and Submarine Entertainment announced today they will partner on the production of ALTMAN, a feature length documentary about the life and art of American film director Robert Altman (1925 – 2006) to be directed & produced by filmmaker Ron Mann. The deals were negotiated by David Koh, Dan Braun & Josh Braun and Stanley Buchthal on behalf of Submarine Entertainment & Dakota Group Ltd. along with Ron Mann of Sphinx Productions. From M*A*S*H McCabe and Mrs. Miller, Nashville, The Player, Short Cuts, Gosford Park, to A Prairie Home Companion, Robert Altman’s naturalistic and prophetic movies reinterpreted every conceivable genre to chronicle a post-war America in transition. Sphinx and EPIX have partnered on the production with Submarine Entertainment to handle Worldwide Sales.

Robert Altman’s extraordinary life — from growing up in Depression-era Kansas City to his receiving in 2006 an honorary Oscar “in recognition of a career that has repeatedly reinvented the art form and inspired filmmakers and audiences alike” — will be woven together from interviews with key actors, his collaborators and family members, along with archival footage of Altman himself and clips from his groundbreaking films.

ALTMAN will be produced and directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Ron Mann (GrassComic Book Confidential, Twist, Go Further). Consultants to the production include Kathryn Reed Altman, widow of Robert Altman and Matthew Seig, film producer who worked closely with Robert Altman.

Bringing the fun and excitement of drive-in movies to DISH subscribers, EPIX Drive-In launched January 1st on channel 292 as part of DISH’s America’s Top 250 package, with select titles also available on demand and online to authenticated DISH subscribers on EpixHD.com and Dishonline.com.  Dedicated to celebrating the best in genre films featuring action, comedy, sci-fi and horror movies of the 1970’s, 80’s, 90’s and beyond, EPIX Drive-In , formerly named The 3 from EPIX, will present a lineup of wild, rebellious and edgy movies such as The Terminator, Child’s Play, Back To School, Rollerball, Teen Wolf and many others, all uncut and uninterrupted.

EPIX Partners with Xbox 360 to Deliver Voice-Controlled Experience to Authenticated EPIX Subscribers

 

NEW YORK, NY, December 5, 2011 – Reaching another milestone in its mission to be on every screen where audiences are looking for hit content, EPIX today announced the launch of its app as part of Microsoft’s December 6 introduction of the new Xbox LIVE service.  A leader in multiplatform availability, EPIX will provide authenticated subscribers streaming access on Xbox 360 to over 3,000 titles including a high definition lineup of new releases like RangoIron Man 2 and True Grit, big movie franchises Star Trek, Saw andJames Bond, along with high profile original music, comedy and sports events.  The EPIX app utilizes the powerful capabilities of Xbox including voice search, gesture and voice commands.
